“Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person's ultimate good as far as it can be obtained.”   C.S. Lewis

“If you want to feel deeply, you have to think deeply. Too often we separate the two. We assume that if we want to feel deeply, then we need to sit around and, well, feel. But emotion built on emotion is empty. True emotion--emotion that is reliable and does not lead us astray--is always a response to reality, to truth.” Joshua Harris

“Love always involves responsibility, and love always involves sacrifice. And we do not really love Christ unless we are prepared to face His task and to take up His Cross.”   William Barclay

“Faith is not only a commitment to the promises of Christ; faith is also a commitment to the demands of Christ.”  William Barclay

“To love God is to love His will. It is to wait quietly for life to be measured by One who knows us through and through. It is to be content with His timing and His wise appointment.”   Elisabeth Elliot

"When God asks a man to do something, methods, means, materials, and specific directions are always provided. The man has one thing to do: obey." Elisabeth Elliot

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay own his life for his friends." John 15:7-13

"Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
I have set the Lord always before me.
Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken." Psalm 16:5-8

"Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the  Lord; trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him..." Psalm 37:3-7

sidenotes;
You overflow my cup with joy (:
You draw me near at the foot of the cross, at your throne of grace
& i will sit at Your feet.

i have never cried this much in the short duration of a week.

i can now say to my consternation that for the first time of my college career, i have woken ten minutes into a final omg. i have never been so grateful for my roommate’s distinctively cute voice as i am now.
i impulse bought a a 0.20mm micron pen & a watercolor moleskine for my personal psalms hehe
i thank God for humbling me, for showing me grace, for sustaining me with His strength, for providing me with support from my sisters in christ & siblings, & reminding me that He is Lord over everything: including my emotions & grades.
i can’t wait to drink a matcha green tea latte from milk&honey mmMMm!
i love the smell of coffee. i am overjoyed being in coffee shops/cafes (:
i am a mess but God is truly so very good to me! (((:

in repentance & rest

source

"A life in Christ is a life of restfulness. There may be no ecstasy of feeling, but there should be an abiding, peaceful trust. Your hope is not in yourself; it is in Christ. Your weakness is united to His strength, your ignorance to His wisdom, your frailty to His enduring might. So you are not to look to yourself, not to let the mind dwell upon self, but look to Christ. Let the mind dwell upon His love, upon the beauty, the perfection, of His character. Christ in His self-denial, Christ in His humiliation, Christ in His purity and holiness, Christ in His matchless love--this is the subject for the soul's contemplation. It is by loving Him, copying Him, depending wholly upon Him, that you are to be transformed into His likeness.  Jesus says, 'Abide in Me.' These words convey the idea of rest, stability, confidence...The heart that rests most fully upon Christ will be most earnest and active in labor for Him...

"When the mind dwells upon self, it is turned away from Christ, the source of strength and life. Hence it is Satan's constant effort to keep the attention diverted from the Saviour and thus prevent the union and communion of the soul with Christ. The pleasures of the world, life's cares and perplexities and sorrows, the faults of others, or your own faults and imperfections--to any or all of these he will seek to divert the mind. Do not be misled by his devices. Many who are really conscientious, and who desire to live for God, he too often leads to dwell upon their own faults and weaknesses, and thus by separating them from Christ he hopes to gain the victory. We should not make self the center and indulge anxiety and fear as to whether we shall be saved. All this turns the soul away from the Source of our strength. Commit the keeping of your soul to God, and trust in Him."source
